Why does Save the Children collect information?

When you contact Save the Children in relation to the here to HELP project, you provide us with personal information. This information will be used to process the application for a here to HELP award.

What is personal information?

Personal information is anything that enables us to identify you as an individual, for example, your name and e-mail address and any other information of a personal nature. When you supply such personal information to us, we are legally obliged by the Data Protection Act 1998, amongst other requirements, to ensure that the information you have provided is only used for the purpose for which it was requested, and to ensure that the data is stored securely.

When you provide us with your personal data, you are agreeing to consent to the collection and use of any information you provide in accordance with the above purposes and this privacy statement.

We may also need to disclose your information to law enforcement agencies if required to do so by law.

You may request a copy of any personal information that Save the Children holds about you (for which we will charge a small fee) by contacting the Data Protection Officer at the above address.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy statement. Should this happen, we will post a notice of the change on the Help Yourselves website, and you will be deemed to have accepted the changes upon such posting.

Retention of personal information under the Privacy Policy

All personal information provided by you in the course of this application process will be kept for 3 years beyond the end of the here to HELP programme.

What is the policy on allowing me to update, correct, or delete my personally identifiable information?

The accuracy of your personal information is important to Save the Children. If you change any of the information we hold, or you discover that it is inaccurate or out of date, please notify us at the address given above.

What about children's privacy?

The safety of children is very important to us. We do not display the full names of individual children nor their addresses on the Website.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of my information?

Save the Children takes appropriate information security measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse or alteration. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Save the Children cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we take appropriate measures to ensure its security on our systems.
